Campo santo explores a forgotten place: Pyramiden, once a flourishing city of Soviet culture, a northern mining city lost in the Norwegian Spitzberg archipelago. During the socialist Soviet golden age, the city was the emblem of human organization built around work. Today, abandoned, it is synonymous with destruction due to economic decline, to the failure of a cultural model. The composer Jérôme Combier and video artist and scenographer Pierre Nouvel spent several days in situ collecting images and sounds. Both an installation and a concert, Campo Santo is an invitation to peek at the ruins of our societies and tests of time. It is also a ghost story; this journey follows the history of the men and women who lived in Spitzberg, who worked, lived, and left traces of their existence there.
