Messiaen and Scriabine both associated the perception of sound with colors, a synesthetic phenomenon more marvelous than medical. Vision and mimesis, imitation of nature, are also called upon in the creation by Hyun-Hwa Cho with images conceived by Raphaël Thibault. Their Jardin d’Éden (Garden of Eden) is a direct reference to the biblical garden, and by extension the connotation of perfect and welcoming Nature. In this primitive garden is born a chimeric being—half man, half bird. The Korean composer, also an organ player, fully expresses her sympathies with Messiaen here.

This recital marks the return of the pianist Mariangela Vacatello, after the Scarbo that brought down the house at the Bouffes du Nord during the last ManiFeste. The inclusion of electronics in the very body of the piano, a symbiosis created in the works by Emanuele Palumbo and Giulia Lorusso, continue the adventure inaugurated by Marco Momi in 2016.
