Composer (b. 1982)

Ashley Fure is an American composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music as well as intermedia installation art. Considered “raw, primal” and “highly likeable” by the New York Times, her woirk explores the kinetic source of sound, brining focus to the muscular act of music making and the chaotic behaviors of raw acoustic matter. She holds a PhD in Music Composition from Harvard University and joined the Dartmouth College Departement of Music as an Assistant Professor of Sonic Arts in 2015.

Her recent projects include The Force of Things: An Opera for Objects (2016), an immersive intermedia opera, Bound to the Bow (2016), for orchestra and electronics, and Feed Forward (2015) for large ensemble.
