Carmine Emanuele Cella
Composer (b. 1976)
After studying music (piano, computer music, and composition) at the conservatory in Pesaro, Italy, Carmine Emanuele Cella studied philosophy and mathematics at the University of Bologna. His thesis on mathematical logic focused on symbolic representations in music.
Since then, he has had a quadruple career as a composer, a pianist (accompanist and jazz pianist), teacher, and researcher (specialized in the domain of the relationships between math and music). In 2006, he founded CryptoSound, a company for acoustic research and development. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a researcher at IRCAM in the Sound Analysis/Synthesis team. In 2009, he and Niels Bogaards founded the company 31tone dedicated to the development of iPhone/iPad tools.
