Philippe Manoury, appointed to the Chair of Creation at the Collège de France for the 2016-17 academic year, completes his journey by presenting two mixed works that incarnate and expose his primary concerns. A precise study on time and its multiple “modes of expression” in a vast form for two pianos and four virtual violins; the birth of autonomous electronic structures, though brought about from the violin solo in Partita II. From beginning to end, in this work, the soloist is the origin and “computer” for the performance between several strata, where different times overlap. Le temps, mode d’emploi, a frontispiece of musical research.
